Power transformer

Up to 220 kV with on-load tap changers and ONAF/ONAN cooling. We check the FAT report against the test bay’s real capability before you sign.

Dry-type transformer

Cast-resin or open-wound dry-type units, 0.4-35 kV, for indoor and high-fire-safety duty. Temperature class, short-circuit withstand and sound levels are checked against the type-test certificate.

Distribution transformer

Oil-immersed or dry-type, 10-35 kV class, standard and custom impedances. We verify the nameplate against the actual test report and the exact model named on your PO.

Instrument transformer

Current and voltage transformers for metering and protection, indoor epoxy or outdoor oil-insulated. Accuracy class and ratio errors are checked against official calibration records.

What to look at before you buy a transformer

Substituting a transformer turns on four groups of parameters: rated capacity and voltage combination, impedance and short-circuit withstand, cooling class (oil-immersed ONAN/ONAF, dry-type cast resin), and the vector group. Insulation medium is the MV/HV budget-killer — oil-paper, cast resin or gas — because it sets maintenance routine, fire provisions and life expectancy, and that cost often sits two pages away from the price.

The most common problem in verification is not a wrong parameter but a paper gap: a FAT report naming a different model from the one on the purchase order, or a type-test certificate covering the design series without ever validating the specific rating for short-circuit withstand. A credible acceptance reads the certificate scope line, the test currents and the impulse level back against the PO, line by line.

We screen every candidate supplier to the same yardstick: genuine cross-check of business licences, test capability matched against the claims, and a written statement that shortlisted alternates carry no financial relationship with us. The free 48-hour initial screen returns a go / hold / walk signal; from there, the Spec Match and Remote Audit tiers turn paper evidence into a workshop finding.

Supply-base view

Why the transformer shortlist always runs through China

China is the world's largest transformer producer, holding roughly 60% of global capacity. The real question in a procurement decision is therefore not whether to look at Chinese works — it is which of some 3,000 firms to look at.

01

Capacity, exports and the lead-time gap

Transformer capacity in China accounts for about 60% of the world total. Exports reached RMB 64.6 billion in 2025, up nearly 36% year on year, and China has held the top exporter position for sixteen consecutive years. While North American lead times stretch beyond two years, customised units out of Chinese works typically run three to six months.

02

The whole chain sits inside the border

From copper and silicon-steel smelting through magnet-wire processing, core stacking, insulating pressboard and tank fabrication, the chain closes domestically. Changing one parameter does not mean waiting on an imported part — and it also means that spotting substituted material requires reading the chain itself.

03

The difficulty is the sheer number of sellers

Around 3,000 firms span ratings from a few hundred to hundreds of thousands of kVA, and trading offices, assembly shops and genuine production lines compete for the same order. Licence scope, insured headcount and customs filing have to be cross-checked before a quotation means anything.

04

What we check before you commit

Whether the FAT report names the same rating as the order; whether the type-test scope covers your specific short-circuit duty; and whether accessories quoted under one brand arrive under another. The free 48-hour screen returns trustworthy, doubtful or not recommended on one supplier.

Have this unit verified before you sign

Send the model number or the parameter sheet. We come back with one verdict and one core reason, plus a shortlist and the reasoning behind it. The screen is free and takes 48 hours; the paid tiers take the evidence down to the works.

Equipment sourcing FAQ

How do you tell a real factory from a trading office?
We cross-check the business-licence scope, social-insurance headcount, and customs filing. A "manufacturer" with two insured staff and no production-equipment records is almost always a trader reselling someone else's unit. We also look at whether the address is an industrial park or a serviced office.
Can you match a specific brand or model to the right manufacturer?
Yes. Send us the brand and model, or just a nameplate photo, and we reverse-engineer the key parameters: rated voltage, impedance, cooling class, protection grade. Then we shortlist Chinese manufacturers whose product line genuinely covers those parameters. This is the Spec Match tier.
Can you negotiate on my behalf?
Yes. The Procurement Execution and Remote Audit tiers include independent negotiation support, and On-Site Verification covers the physical checks; either way, we sit on your side of the table, not the factory's.
Do you take commissions from factories?
Never. We're paid only by you, on a flat fee. When we name an alternative supplier, we state in writing that we have no financial relationship with it. No referral fees, no kickbacks, no revenue share. Our only incentive is that your deal closes.
