Cables & Accessories

MV power cable

XLPE-insulated power cables, 6-35 kV, copper or aluminium conductor. Conductor cross-section, insulation thickness, and test voltage are verified against the factory test certificate.

LV control cable

PVC or LSZH sheathed control cables for instrumentation and control circuits. Conductor count, cross-section, and flame-retardant class are confirmed against the data sheet.

Cable accessories

Terminations, joints, and lugs for MV and LV cables, heat-shrink or cold-shrink. We verify the accessory matches the cable size and voltage class before dispatch.

The nine hard constraints on cable substitution

Cable equivalence turns on nine hard constraints: conductor material and class (IEC 60228), insulation type and thickness, the strippable/bonded nature of the semiconductive screens, metallic screen or sheath type and cross-section, armour form, oversheath and flame grade (IEC 60332 single-cable vs bunched), an exact voltage designation (0.6/1 kV, 8.7/15 kV and so on), temperature ratings, and drum length with the test regime.

Differently from MV/HV, LV insulation rarely fails; the substitution breaks at construction discipline and the accessory system: a few millimetres of overall diameter scrapes the glands and cleats ordered with the original cable, and a brochure cover reading "IEC 60332 compliant" is not a test that was ever run.

Both guides in this column (Hitachi MV/HV, Prysmian LV) lay out the item checklist; our equivalence assessment runs the same template, starting with a free 48-hour initial screen and completing backwards-engineered parameters and shortlists in the paid tiers.

Supply-base view

Cable: equivalence starts upstream, in the metal

Roughly 80% of a cable's cost sits in the conductor, so stable access to compliant copper and aluminium decides delivery quality more than the factory does. China's position upstream is decisive.

01

Raw material on home ground

China is the world's largest producer of both copper and aluminium products, in the order of 24 million tonnes of copper products and 70 million tonnes of aluminium products a year. Transformers, cable, busway and switchgear all draw on that one upstream.

02

Output and export scale

China is the largest producer and consumer of wire and cable worldwide, holding over 40% of the global market, with 2025 output around 68 million kilometres and exports near 3.15 million tonnes. The Yangtze delta, Pearl delta and north China together account for about three-quarters of national output.

03

The easy part and the hard part

LV insulation rarely fails. Substitution breaks on construction discipline and the accessory chain — a few millimetres of overall diameter scraps the glands and cleats ordered with the original cable, and a catalogue cover reading "IEC 60332 compliant" is not a test that was ever run.

04

What we put in writing

Overall diameter and bend radius checked against your installed accessories, the actual flame-test regime (single cable versus bunched), drum lengths and the sealing record on arrival. The free screen returns trustworthy, doubtful or not recommended on the factory behind the drum.

Send the cable schedule, not just the price

Voltage designation, conductor class, screen type, armour and drum length are the five lines that decide whether a substitute actually drops in. Send us the schedule and we will return a verdict on the supplier within 48 hours, with the accessory and test-regime questions attached.

Equipment sourcing FAQ

How do you tell a real factory from a trading office?
We cross-check the business-licence scope, social-insurance headcount, and customs filing. A "manufacturer" with two insured staff and no production-equipment records is almost always a trader reselling someone else's unit. We also look at whether the address is an industrial park or a serviced office.
Can you match a specific brand or model to the right manufacturer?
Yes. Send us the brand and model, or just a nameplate photo, and we reverse-engineer the key parameters: rated voltage, impedance, cooling class, protection grade. Then we shortlist Chinese manufacturers whose product line genuinely covers those parameters. This is the Spec Match tier.
Can you negotiate on my behalf?
Yes. The Procurement Execution and Remote Audit tiers include independent negotiation support, and On-Site Verification covers the physical checks; either way, we sit on your side of the table, not the factory's.
Do you take commissions from factories?
Never. We're paid only by you, on a flat fee. When we name an alternative supplier, we state in writing that we have no financial relationship with it. No referral fees, no kickbacks, no revenue share. Our only incentive is that your deal closes.
